Inside the Chapel of Apparitions, the Sanctuary, Fatima: a statue of The Virgin Mary, inside a transparent case on top of a marble plinth can be seen at the exact spot where she appeared to Lucinda, Jacinta and Francisco - the three children. The original tree from where The Virgin Mary spoke to the children has long gone due to souvenir hunters. Another large tree is growing nearby. To the left of the statute is the lectern from where the clergy pray with the congregation. A very special place indeed. 29 July 2001
