Day 6 Fatima to Lisbon; 30 July 2001
Breakfast of orange juice, two buns, cornflakes and coffee. Chatted with Irish bloke on an Irish package tour that I thought may have been the cue for an eejit joke but I thought better of it. He justified his views because Lucinda's three prophecies had all come true including Pope John Paul's view that he owed his life to Lucinda of Fatima.
From my point of view, he was explaining that which he didn't understand through his appeal to faith. If that’s what he needs then that's fine for him. I still consider myself a primitive heathen or at best an agnostic humanist.
Off to Lisbon Appolonnia station today with the taxi due at 1015. I was really surprised how the San Amora Hotel was only 6000 escudos for Bed & Breakfast. (343 escudos = El.00), the same price as my taxi return fare to Fatima Train Station! The correct name for Fatima Train Station is "Chao de Macas Fatima" Even the Portuguese National Railway Company is out to benefit from the Fatima name. Oh well, no worries. The Stationmaster at Fatima doubles at everything and was a very helpful bloke. Fatima station is a very tiny place.
